Wayland may refer to:
Wayland is a computer protocol that specifies the communication between a display server (called Wayland compositor) and its clients, as well as a reference implementation of the protocol in the C programming language.
Wayland is developed by a group of volunteers led by Kristian Høgsberg as a free and open community-driven project with the aim of replacing the X Window System with a modern, simpler windowing system in Linux and other Unix-like operating systems. The project's source code is published under the terms of the MIT License, a permissive free software licence.
As part of its efforts, the Wayland project also develops a reference implementation of a Wayland compositor called Weston.
Wayland is a former station on the Central Mass Branch, from 1965–1971 part of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's MBTA Commuter Rail system. It was closed in 1971 when service on the Central Mass Branch was terminated due to poor track conditions.
