What is "water vine"

Water vine \Wa"ter vine`\ (Bot.) Any plant of the genus Phytocrene, climbing shrubs of Asia and Africa, the stems of which are singularly porous, and when cut stream with a limpid potable juice.

The name Water vine may refer to at least two plants, both in the Vitaceae (grape) family:

• Cissus hypoglauca, a common Australian vine
• Vitis tiliifolia, a vine of the Americas
