Cavy \Ca"vy\, n.; pl. Cavies. [NL. cavia, fr. Brazilian cabiai: cf. F. cabiai.] (Zo["o]l.) A rodent of the genera Cavia and Dolichotis, as the guinea pig ( Cavia cobaya). Cavies are natives of South America.
