Washim is a city and a municipal council in Washim district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Washim is the district headquarters of Washim district.

Washim (Lok Sabha constituency)

Washim Lok Sabha constituency was a Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency in Maharashtra state in western India from 1977 for 6th Lok Sabha till 2004 elections to 14t Lok Sabha. It was created in 1977 Lok Sabha elections, with abolishment of three term Khamgaon (Lok Sabha constituency) in neighbouring Buldhana district. This constituency was dissolved when the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies based on the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted in 2002 was implementated with the creation of new Yavatmal-Washim (Lok Sabha constituency).

Washim (Vidhan Sabha constituency)

Washim (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is one of the 288 constituencies of the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha and one of the three which are located in the Washim district. It is reserved for Schduled Caste candidates.

It is a part of the Yavatmal-Washim (Lok Sabha constituency) with the adjoining Yavatmal district along with five other Vidhan Sabha assembly constituencies, viz. Karanja, Ralegaon (ST), Yavatmal(ST), Digras and Pusad.

As per orders of Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 34 Washim (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: 1. Mangrulpir Tehsil, 2. Washim Tehsil of the district.

  • 2014: Lakhan Sahadeo Malik of the Bharatiya Janata Party represents the constituency in the 13th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
