Wanda

Wanda ( ; ) is a female given name of Polish origin. It probably derives from the tribal name of the Wends. The name has long been popular in Poland where the legend of Princess Wanda has been circulating since at least the 12th century. In 1947 Wanda was cited as the second most popular name, after Mary, for Polish girls, and the most popular from Polish secular history. The name was made familiar in the English-speaking world by the 1883 novel Wanda, written by Ouida, the story line of which is based on the last years of the Hechingen branch of the Swabian House of Hohenzollern. In the United States, Wanda attained its highest popularity in the year 1934 peaking then at No. 47 on the list of names most frequently given to female infants. The name is popularly interpreted as meaning "wanderer."

Wanda (crater)

Wanda is a crater in the Akna Montes on Venus first mapped first by the Soviet Venera 15/16 mission in 1984. It was formed by the impact of an asteroid. The crater has a rugged central peak and a smooth radar-dark floor, probably volcanic material. The crater does not appear to be much deformed by later crustal movement that uplifted the mountains and crumpled the plains. Material from the adjacent mountain ridge to the west, however, appears to have collapsed into the crater. Small pits seen to the north of the crater may be volcanic collapse pits a few kilometers across (1–2 miles).

Wanda (band)

Wanda is an Austrian indie pop band.

The band was founded in Vienna in 2012. Their debut album Amore was released in October 2014 at "Problembär Records" and debuted at number 13 on the Austrian Albums Chart on October 31, 2014. Their single Bologna (which features that Italian city) was released in early 2015 and peaked at number 42 on April 10, 2015. Wanda's first tour took place in late 2014 and the band is starting a second one in February 2015, with locations in Austria, Germany and Switzerland (i.e. the German language area). On October 2, 2015 their second album Bussi was released. They made a deal with Universal Music Germany.

Their indie pop style is influenced by rock 'n' roll, as well as Austropop (Austrian singer-songwriters). They label their music (slightly tongue-in-cheek) as "pop music with ' Amore'". Their songs are sung in German, with a more or less strongly noticeable Viennese dialect.
