Walkden is a suburban town in the metropolitan borough of the City of Salford, in Greater Manchester, England. It is west-northwest of Salford, and west-northwest of Manchester.

Historically in the township of Worsley in Lancashire, Walkden was a centre for coal mining and textile manufacture.

According to the United Kingdom Census 2001, Walkden had a total resident population of 38,685. The 2011 Census had the population measured at 21,194.
