Vespertilio \Ves`per*til"i*o\, n. [L., a bat.] (Zo["o]l.) A genus of bats including some of the common small insectivorous species of North America and Europe.

Vespertilio is a genus of bats in the family Vespertilionidae. The common name for this family is vesper bats, which is a better known classification than Vespertilio.
