Vaakevandring

Vaakevandring was a Norwegian unblack metal band that was active from 1996 to 2007. The name in Norwegian is a reference to the resurrection of Jesus. Vaakevandring played atmospheric, epic unblack metal with keyboards and folk melodies. Their self-titled EP was produced by Stian Aarstad of Dimmu Borgir and gained world wide appreciation. Despite releasing only an EP, Vaakevandring's influence on the unblack metal scene was significant because they were one of the key bands to change the dominating "anti-satanism" lyrical theme led by the genre-founder Horde to a more philosophical and emotional direction. Vaakevandring were co-headliners with Antestor at Swedish Endtime Festival in 2007.

Vaakevandring (EP)

Vaakevandring is the first EP by Vaakevandring, it contains the original songs from their demo plus one bonus track entitled "To Find The Eternal Peace".

Vaakevandring was produced by Stian Aarstad of Dimmu Borgir.

Keyboard is a dominant instrument on the EP, and the overall output is symphonic, epic, melodic and folk-influenced. "Fader Vaar" is an adaptation of the Lord's Prayer in Norwegian language. "Og Sorgen Stilnet I Smertens Vann" is also sung in Norwegian.
