Ùisdean

Ùisdean (or Uisdean or Hùisdean) is a Scottish Gaelic masculine given name. It is derived from the Old Norse personal name Eysteinn, which is composed of ey, meaning "always", "forever"; and steinn, meaning "stone". Ùisdean may be anglicised as Hugh (note that Hugh is also an anglicised form of the unrelated name Aodh). The name may refer to:

  • Hugh of Sleat (1437–1498), Scottish clan founder
  • Uisdean MacDonald (1929–2013), Scottish politician
