What is "trekkopje"

Trekkopje is a mountain in the Erongo Region of Namibia, north-east of Swakopmund on the road to Usakos. The following events and entities are named after Trekkopje:

• Trekkopje mine, a currently unused Uranium mine of Areva about 20 km to the north,
• Trekkopje desalination plant, a plant near Wlotzkasbaken built to provide water for the uranium mine at Trekkopje
• Trekkopje railway station, a former stop on the Swakopmund- Karibib railway line
• Battle of Trekkopjes, a World War I battle aimed at preventing South African troops from rebuilding the railway line
• Trekkopje Cemetery, a cemetery of nine war graves whose casualties result from the Battle of Trekkopjes
