Flare \Flare\, v. i. [imp. & p. p. Flared; p. pr. & vb. n. Flaring.] [Cf. Norw. flara to blaze, flame, adorn with tinsel, dial. Sw. flasa upp, and E. flash, or flacker.]
To burn with an unsteady or waving flame; as, the candle flares.
