The talwar , also spelled talwaar and tulwar, is a type of curved sword or sabre from the Indian Subcontinent, and is found in the modern countries of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Afghanistan.

Talwar is a Punjabi Khatri family name. In ancient ages the community used to be fighters known as "Shatriya" or slowly changed to "Khatri". Most of Talwar are originated from PESHAWAR (earlier was in INDIA and now in Pakistan).
