What is "talmai"

Talmai (; [heb. תלמי], see here for etymology) is a name in the Bible referring to a number of minor people. Its Aramaic version was connected to the Greek Ptolemy (see that article for the list of corresponding names and surnames), and later to the Italian Bartolomeo, the English Bartholomew etc.
