Taeniosomi \T[ae]`ni*o*so"mi\, n. pl. [NL., fr. Gr. ? ribbon + ? body.] (Zo["o]l.) An order of fishes remarkable for their long and compressed form. The ribbon fishes are examples. See Ribbon fish, under Ribbon.
