Swamy is primarily a Hindu honorific title for male deity. It is derived from Sanskrit and means "He who knows and is the master of himself", "owner of oneself", or "free from the sins".

It is a title added to one's name to emphasize learning and mastery of yoga, devotion to god, and devotion to the swami's spiritual master (a Guru or Swami).

The word Swamy is used as a suffix for most of the male Gods like Shri Manjunatha Swamy, Shri Venkateshwara Swamy, Shri Scootaranagayanoatasa Swamy, Shri Satyanarayana Swamy, Shri Subrahmanya Swamy, Shri Ayyappa Swamy and so on. Thus provides more respect for deity and is usually used to referred to Male deity.

Swamy (film)

Swamy is a 2005 Indian Kannada romantic action film directed and co-written by M. S. Ramesh and produced by Bharathi Basavaraju. The main cast includes Darshan, Gayatri Jayaraman and Avinash besides Jai Jagadish and Rangayana Raghu in other pivotal roles.

The film was released on 30 September 2005 across Karnataka cinema halls and got mixed response from critics and audience. The critics mentioned that the story line draws parallel from Tamil films such as Saamy and Anjaneya
