Succinonitrile
Succinonitrile, also butanedinitrile, is a nitrile, with the formula of CH(CN). It is a colorless solid that melts at 57 °C, hence its waxy consistency.
Succinonitrile is produced by the addition of hydrogen cyanide to acrylonitrile:
CH=CHCN + HCN → NCCHCHCNHydrogenation of succinonitrile yields 1,4-diaminobutane.
