Straitening

Straiten \Strait"en\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. Straitened; p. pr. & vb. n. Straitening.]

  1. To make strait; to make narrow; hence, to contract; to confine.

    Waters, when straitened, as at the falls of bridges, give a roaring noise.
