Sphene \Sphene\, n. [F. sph[`e]ne, fr. Gr. sfh`n a wedge.] (Min.) A mineral found usually in thin, wedge-shaped crystals of a yellow or green to black color. It is a silicate of titanium and calcium; titanite.
