Something Else was a Japanese male folk band from Kashiwa consisting of members Nobutaka Okubo, Daisuke Ito and Chihiro Imai. Originally formed as Exit Line in 1994, they later changed their name to Something Else.
They debuted with the song "Kanashiki Nonfiction" in 1996, but remained relatively unknown until they released the song "Last Chance" in 1998.
Something Else is the third studio album by R&B singer Robin Thicke, released on September 30, 2008. It is a follow up to Thicke's highly successful second album The Evolution of Robin Thicke and features a guest appearance by Lil Wayne.
Something Else is a children's picture book written by Kathryn Cave and illustrated by Chris Riddell.
Cave and Riddell were awarded the very first international UNESCO prize for Children's and Young People's Literature in the Service of Tolerance for Something Else.
The book was later made into a TV comic series by TV Loonland.
Something Else is a 1971 album by Shirley Bassey.
Following-up her comeback album Something, this proved to be almost as big when it too made the UK top 10, peaking at No.7. The album contained the hit single " (Where Do I Begin?) Love Story" as well as a non-charting second release " Breakfast in Bed". The success of this album and Shirley Bassey in general at this period saw a rush of compilations and older albums entering the UK charts in late 1971, with five albums appearing over the space of three months. In 1972, Bassey was the subject of This is Your Life where guest Liberace made mention of this album and in particular "Excuse Me".
The gatefold photograph features Bassey wearing a chiffon catsuit. The early 1970s would see Bassey wearing some of her most revealing stage costumes, as reflected on the cover.
In France, the album was released as Love Songs with an alternative sleeve and also featured the song "For All We Know". Something Else was released on vinyl and cassette in stereo. It was re-issued on CD in 1999 by EMI with two bonus tracks; " For the Love of Him" was originally the B-side of "(Where Do I Begin) Love Story", while "Vehicle", recorded in February 1971, remained unreleased until 1994.
Something Else was a television show produced by the British Broadcasting Corporation and scheduled on its BBC2 channel between 1978 and 1982, targeted specifically at a youth audience. It began in 1978 on Saturday evenings and is an early example in British television of the genre known as "Youth TV" (later deliberately misspelled as "Yoof tv") encompassing unknown and largely untrained young presenters with undisguised regional accents, minimal scripting, magazine format, freeform discussion of contemporary concerns to young people, interspersed with performances by up-and-coming new bands.
The programme's innovative presentation style influenced subsequent shows in the genre such as The Tube, Oxford Road Show, Network 7 and The Word. It was also satirised by Not the Nine O'Clock News (as Hey Wow) which began that same autumn, and also in "The Young Ones" (as "Nozin' Aroun'").
During its run it captured on film The Clash performing 'Clash City Rockers' & 'Tommy Gun' in 1978 in their only televised performance for the B.B.C.; the last (and only nationally broadcast) television appearance by Joy Division playing 'Transmission' and 'She's Lost Control' live in the studio in September 1979; The Jam appeared on the show playing 'Eton Rifles' in 1980, and U2 featured in May 1982 performing a 3 song set consisting of 'Rejoice', I Will Follow' & 'With A Shout (Jerusalem)' promoting their second L.P. ' October'.
