What is "smithwick's"

Smithwick's is an Irish red ale-style beer from Kilkenny, Ireland. It is a clear beer with a red colour. Smithwick's was originally created as a special brew for the first Kilkenny Beer Festival. It was later renamed Smithwick's No. 1 but is known today as Smithwick's.

The brewery was founded in 1710, was acquired by Guinness in 1965, and is now part of Diageo.
