Sigmoid \Sig"moid\, Sigmoidal \Sig*moid"al\, a. [Gr. ???; ??? sigma + e'i^dos form, likeness: cf. F. sigmo["i]de.] Curved in two directions, like the letter S, or the Greek [sigmat].
