Sal \Sal\ (s[add]l), n. [Hind. s[=a]l, Skr. [,c][=a]la.] (Bot.) An East Indian timber tree ( Shorea robusta), much used for building purposes. It is of a light brown color, close-grained, heavy, and durable. [Written also saul.]
