What is "secretome"

n. (context biochemistry English) That part of a proteome consisting of proteins secreted from a cell

The secretome is the totality of secreted organic molecules and inorganic elements by biological cells, tissues, organs, and organisms. The concept of secretome is useful as it can refer to all the diganostic candidates naturally produced. However, the term is more often referred as the secreted proteins of a proteome in a given species.
