Scaphognathite \Sca*phog"na*thite\, n. [Gr. ska`fh boat + gna`qos jaw.] (Zo["o]l.) A thin leafike appendage (the exopodite) of the second maxilla of decapod crustaceans. It serves as a pumping organ to draw the water through the gill cavity.
