Savages (play)

Savages is a play written by British playwright Christopher Hampton. It premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in 1973, and was published the following year by Faber and Faber.

Hampton was inspired to write this play by a newspaper article titled "Genocide" by Norman Lewis in the Sunday Times Colour Magazine, published on 23 February 1969. This article dealt with the systematic extermination of Brazil's Indians ranging from the 16th century to the present day.

Savages is a 1972 Merchant Ivory Film directed by James Ivory and screenplay by George W. S. Trow and Michael O'Donoghue, based on an idea by Ivory.

The film concept given to Trow and O'Donoghue was to tell a story that was the reverse of Luis Buñuel's 1962 film The Exterminating Angel, in which guests at an elegant dinner party become bestial. Writing began in late 1968 and continued through 1969. Its first showing came at the Cannes Film Festival in May 1972.

Savages is a 2012 American crime thriller film directed by Oliver Stone. It is based on the novel of the same name by Don Winslow. The screenplay was written by Shane Salerno, Stone, and Winslow. The film was released on July 6, 2012, and stars Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Demian Bichir, Benicio del Toro, Salma Hayek, John Travolta, and Emile Hirsch.

Savages are a London-based post-punk revival, noise rock band, formed in 2011. Their debut album, Silence Yourself was released on May 6, 2013 via Matador Records. It reached number 19 in the UK Albums Chart in May 2013, and was critically acclaimed. It peaked at number 5 on Irish and UK Independent Albums Chart, and at number 13 on US Billboard Independent Albums. The band's sophomore album Adore Life, was released on January 22, 2016.

Upon the album's release, it debuted at No. 22 on the US Billboard 200, No. 4 on the Alternative Albums chart, and topped the Dance/Electronic Albums chart. The album spawned four single; "Savages", "Bang It Out" featuring pop duo Karmin, "Sellouts" featuring Danny Worsnop formerly of the metalcore band Asking Alexandria, " Chasing Hearts" featuring Tyler Carter of metalcore group Issues,and "I Don't Know What I'm Doing". The album features a more electronic and dance influence rather than the electronic rock and post-hardcore influences seen on the group's previous albums. This is the first album released without former member Kyle Even.

Savages (Soulfly album)

Savages is the ninth studio album by American metal group Soulfly, released on September 30, 2013. The album is the first to feature drummer Zyon Cavalera, frontman Max's son, in a full-time capacity after the departure of David Kinkade in 2012. The first single from the album, " Bloodshed" featuring Max's other son (and Zyon's brother) Igor, debuted on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show on August 6, 2013.

The album was produced by Terry Date, who had previously performed mixing work for Soulfly on 3, Prophecy and Dark Ages. The album features a number of guest vocalists including Igor Cavalera, Jr. of Lody Kong, Jamie Hanks of I Declare War, Neil Fallon of Clutch and Mitch Harris of Napalm Death.

Savages marks the group's first record to be released on Nuclear Blast Records. It was released in CD ( digipak edition with two bonus tracks, and standard jewel case), limited edition vinyl, and digital download formats.

The album debuted at #84 on the Billboard 200, selling 4700 copies during the first week after the release.
