Sanseirui (or Sanseiryu or Sandairyu) is a karate kata of Southern Chinese ( Fujianese) origin. The name literally means thirty-six . Some people refer to the kata as '36 Hands', '36 Fists', '36 Techniques', '36 Steps' or even '36 killing positions', 36 Positions of attack and defense however, these names have no historical basis. .

Versions of it are found in several karate styles, including Goju-ryu, but it is most associated with Uechi-ryu and the related system Shohei-ryu.
