Sakri is a small town in the Dhule District of the Nashik division, one of the six divisions of India's Maharashtra state. The town of Sakri is the headquarters for Sakri Taluka. Another Sakri is in Bihar, which is now a railway junction.
The town is located on National Highway 6 running between Hazira (near Surat) in Gujarat to Kolkota, West Bengal.
The people there are mostly Hindu. The languages most spoken in Sakri are Marathi & Ahirani.
In the Sakri Taluka there is the World's Largest Solar Project.
Sakri Vidhan Sabha constituency is one of the 288 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Maharashtra state in western India. This constituency is located in the Dhule district and it is reserved for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled tribes.
It is part of the Nandurbar Lok Sabha constituency along with another five Vidhan Sabha segments, namely Shirpur in Dhule district and Akkalkuwa, Navapur, Nandurbar and Shahada in the Nandurbar district.
As per orders of Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 6 Sakri (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Sakri Tehsil (excluding Dusane Circle). of Dhule district.
