Saccharone \Sac"cha*rone\, n. [Saccharin + lactone.] (Chem.)
A white crystalline substance, C6H8O6, obtained by the oxidation of saccharin, and regarded as the lactone of saccharonic acid.
An oily liquid, C6H10O2, obtained by the reduction of saccharin.
