What is "rupicola"

Rupicola \Ru*pic"o*la\, n. [NL., fr. L. rupes, gen. rupis, a rock + colere to inhabit.] (Zo["o]l.) A genus of beautiful South American passerine birds, including the cock of the rock.

Note: The species are remarkable for having an elevated fan-shaped crest of feathers on the head, and for the beautiful color of their plumage, which is mostly some delicate shade of yellow or orange.

Rupicola is a small genus of flowering plants in the family Ericaceae. The species are endemic to New South Wales in Australia and include:

• Rupicola sprengelioides Maiden & Betche

The genus was first formally described in 1898 by Joseph Maiden and Ernst Betche.
