Rocky Mountain (electoral district)

Rocky Mountain was a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that was represented in the Canadian House of Commons from 1968 to 1979.

This riding was created in 1966 from parts of Bow River, Jasper—Edson, Lethbridge and Macleod ridings.

It was abolished in 1976 when it was redistributed into Bow River, Calgary South, Lethbridge, Peace River, Red Deer and Yellowhead ridings.

Rocky Mountain (provincial electoral district)

Rocky Mountain was a historical Alberta provincial electoral district, that existed from 1909 to 1935.

In 1909 Rocky Mountain was formed from the western edge of Rosebud in the north part of the riding, the entire riding of Banff, the western half of High River and Macleod. As well as the north part of Pincher Creek.

In 1940 the north part of the riding merged with Cochrane to form Banff-Cochrane. Okotoks-High River expanded to fill the central portion of the riding and Pincher Creek expanded to fill the south end of the riding and became Pincher Creek-Crowsnest.

The riding ran the length of the Rocky Mountains along the Alberta / British Columbia border.

Rocky Mountain is a peak of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. It is located about 2 miles (3.5 km) east of Irish Gap, on the border of Rockbridge County and Amherst County; it is the highest point of both counties. Rocky Mountain is flanked to the northeast by Elk Pond Mountain, to the southwest by Grapevine Ridge, and to the south by Tar Jacket Ridge (3,860 ft / 1,180 m).

Rocky Mountain stands within the watershed of the James River, which drains into Chesapeake Bay. The northwest side of Rocky Mtn. drains into the Nettle Springs Branch of Nettle Creek, thence into Irish Creek, the South River, the Maury River, and the James River. The southwest side of Rocky Mtn. drains into Statons Creek, thence into the Pedlar River and the James. The east side of Rocky Mtn. drains into the Greasy Spring Branch of the South Fork of the Piney River, thence into the Tye River and the James.

Rocky Mountain is located in the George Washington National Forest. The summit of Rocky Mtn. is occupied by several radio towers, accessed by a dead-end dirt road. A VDEN packet node, ROCKND, is also located on this mountaintop. The Appalachian Trail, a 2,170-mile (3,500-km) National Scenic Trail from Georgia to Maine, passes 0.3 miles (0.5 km) to the southeast of the summit, while the Blue Ridge Parkway passes . (1 km) to the northwest.

Rocky Mountain is a mountain located in Ulster County, New York. The mountain is part of the Catskill Mountains. Rocky Mountain is flanked to the west by Lone Mountain, and to the northeast by Balsam Cap.

The south and east sides of Rocky Mountain drain into the headwaters of Rondout Creek, thence into the Hudson River, and into New York Bay. The northeast and northwest sides of Rocky Mtn. drain into the East Branch of the Neversink River, the Delaware River, and into Delaware Bay.
