Rimouski

Rimouski is a Canadian city located in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec at the mouth of the Rimouski River. It has a population of 46,860 (as of 2011) and many tourist, cultural and industrial attractions.

Rimouski is the site of Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQAR), the Cégep de Rimouski (which includes the Institut maritime du Québec) and the Music Conservatory. It is also the home of some ocean sciences research centres ( see below).

Rimouski (electoral district)

Rimouski (also known as Rimouski—Témiscouata, Rimouski—Mitis and Rimouski-Neigette-et-la Mitis) was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the Canadian House of Commons from 1867 to 2003.

It was created by the British North America Act, 1867 as "Rimouski" riding.

After the 1980 federal election, it was renamed "Rimouski—Témiscouata". In 1996, it was renamed "Rimouski", and before the 1997 election, it was renamed "Rimouski—Mitis". Before the 2000 election, it was renamed "Rimouski-Neigette-et-la Mitis".

It was abolished in 2003 when it was redistributed into Rimouski—Témiscouata and Matapédia—Matane ridings.

Rimouski (provincial electoral district)

Rimouski is a provincial electoral district in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec, Canada, that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It includes the city of Rimouski and various other municipalities.

It was created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada).

In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost Lac-des-Aigles and Biencourt to the newly created Rivière-du-Loup–Témiscouata electoral district.
