Rheintal (Wahlkreis)

Rheintal is a Wahlkreis ( constituency) of the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland, formed under the new constitution of the canton on 10 June 2001. It consists largely of the former districts of Oberrheintal and Unterrheintal.

The Wahlrkreis covers almost all the region of Vogtei Rheintal and later Rheintal District.

Rheintal

Rheintal is German for "Rhine Valley". It may refer to

  • the Alpine Rhine Valley and its various subdivisions
    • Churer Rheintal (Gresonian Rhine Valley) between Tamins/Bonaduz and Sargans, East Switzerland
    • (St. Galler) Rheintal (Rhine Valley), between Sargans and Lake Constance, East Switzerland
      • Rheintal (Wahlkreis), a constituency of canton of St. Gallen
        • Oberrheintal District, former district in canton of St. Gallen
        • Unterrheintal District, former district in canton of St. Gallen
      • Vogtei Rheintal, 1491 to 1798 part of Old Swiss Confederacy in the Rheintal
  • Middle Rhine Valley (Mittelrheintal)
  • Upper Rhine Plain (also known as Rhine Rift Valley)
