Rasputin

acquired name (Russian, literally "debauchee") of Grigory Yefimovich Novykh (c.1872-1916), mystic and faith healer who held sway over court of Nicholas II of Russia. His nickname is from his doctrine of "rebirth through sin," that true holy communion must be preceded by immersion in sin. His name used figuratively in English from 1937 for anyone felt to have an insidious and corrupting influence.

"Rasputin" is a 1978 euro disco hit single by the Germany-based pop and euro disco group Boney M., the second from their album Nightflight to Venus. The song is a semi-biographical song about Grigori Rasputin, a friend and advisor of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia and his family during the early 20th century. The song variously sensationalizes Rasputin as a playboy, mystical healer, and political manipulator.

Rasputin (Card novel)

Rasputin is the title of an as-yet uncompleted science fiction novel by Orson Scott Card and Kathryn H. Kidd. It will be the second novel in The Mayflower Trilogy. It is currently listed as a work in progress on Card's website. The first novel, Lovelock, was published in 1994.

Card and Kidd started writing the book several years ago, but they ran in to some problems with the story that required going all the way back to the beginning and starting over.
