Rambhatla is a Brahmin surname that belongs to the dravida sect of Telugu Brahmins of Andhra Pradesh.
Rambhatla actually is "RAMA-BHATLA" which means the army of Lord Rama.
Telugu Brahmins are members of the Indian Brahmin caste whose native language is Telugu.
Most of them hail from the region of Andhra Pradesh, located in South India. Telugu Brahmins are known for their accomplishments in religious, social, economic, cultural, and scientific endeavors, but have less presence in politics.
Their ancestors belonged to KUMBAKONAM in Tamil Nadu, that is why their Kuladeivam is Swamimalai murugan. When krishnadevaraaya conquered these regions, the local kings offered him money and other gifts as a token of accepting his authority, but Krishnadevaraaya asked for some scholars to be sent to his area to educate his people. Thus about ten families were given to him, one among them being Rambhatlas.
These families were settled in different areas and were asked to settle in a village called "Revupaadu" (Ravipadu ?) in East Godavari district, perhaps the most fertile area in the whole of the south.
