Pyrrhiades

Pyrrhiades is a genus of skippers in the family Hesperiidae. It contains only one species, Pyrrhiades lucagus, the western blue policeman, which is found in Liberia, Ivory Coast and Ghana. The habitat consists of coastal forests.

Adults are attracted to flowers, bird droppings and mud patches. Flowering mango trees sometimes attract large numbers. Adults may mimic certain species of blue wasps with red heads and red abdominal markings.

The larvae feed on Acridocarpus smeathmanni. They are black with a red head with a few minute black dots.
