Pteleos is a village and a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Almyros, of which it is a municipal unit. Population 2,881 (2001). It contains several beaches, as well as a plethora of beach-bars, taverns, restaurants, bars and night clubs.
Ftelio, as the locals call it, is a village at the southern part of the Magnesia prefecture. The area has been populated already since the prehistoric times and the name Pteleos is mentioned in Homer's Iliad. Current archaeological sites include the Venetian Castle close to Pigadi, several tombs from the Mycenean period between Pteleos and Aghioi Theodoroi and several small churches, the oldest of which was built in the 13th century. The population's main professions include tourism, agriculture and fishing.
