Prayerbox

Prayerbox is a religious social networking website that allows users share prayer points and testimonies with their friends and people from around the world. It launched December 10, 2014.

It works like Twitter but for religion. Users can create accounts and post prayer requests which are then seen my the people in their network and other users of the website. In place of a retweet or like button, users can say amen to prayers. When prayers are answered, a user has the ability to post a testimony which is then seen by people who interacted with the particular prayer. The website has grown considerably since its launch and has over 100,000 active users. Churches are also allowed to create pages through which they can connect with their congregation.

Beyond sharing prayers and testimonies, Prayerbox also allows users pay tithes, offerings or donations directly to their churches through a secure payment channel.

The idea was founded by Nigerian programmer Adebambo Oyekan Oyelaja and is funded by 440.ng a startup accelerator based in Lagos, Nigeria. It was recently featured on Forbes.
