Post-Blackness

The term Post-blackness was coined in the art scene during the 1990s by Thelma Golden, director of the Studio Museum of Harlem and the conceptual artist Glenn Ligon. Journalist Touré defines the 21st century as the era of Post-Blackness. His book Who's Afraid of Post Blackness? What it Means to be Black Now describes the search for a Black Identity in the 21st century by rejecting attempts at adopting one single notion of Blackness as the entire definition.
