Pitangus

Pitangus is a genus of birds in the family Tyrannidae — the tyrant flycatchers. Established by William John Swainson in 1827, it contains two species:

  • Lesser kiskadee, Pitangus lictor
  • Great kiskadee, Pitangus sulphuratus

The name Pitangus is derived from a Tupi word for the birds.
