Phricogenes

Phricogenes is a genus of moth in the family Gelechiidae. It contains the single species Phricogenes sophronopa, which is found in New Guinea.

The wingspan is 15–16 mm. The forewings are white, with some scattered dark grey specks and irregular dots or small spots of black irroration more or less suffused grey, one of these is found on the base of the costa, one towards the costa near the base, one in the disc beyond this, three raised representing the stigmata, the plical beneath the first discal, and a fourth beneath the second discal, two beneath the costa at one-third and beyond the middle, two obliquely before and above the second discal, one or two obliquely beyond the second discal, a small spot before the apex, and a marginal series around the apical third of the costa and termen. The hindwings are pale grey.
