The Phangureh are a gotra of Jats from the Punjab region in mostly India. They are mostly found in the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab.
They have traditionally, like many Jats, been farmers. Many Phangurehs have emigrated to Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States. The Phangureh clan is almost all adherents of Sikhism. Many Sikhs have originated from villages in Punjab (e.g. Bhadla (near Khanna), Aitiana, Latala) and have gone to foreign countries to earn money and build a better future for them and their children.
Most Phangureh are descendants of Indian freedom Fighter Ganda Singh, son of Nikka Singh, listed in the Ghadr Directory, who first emigrated to Canada in 1907, and returned to India aboard the Tosha Maru.
There also is a village named Phangurian, in Punjab.
