Ophthalmitis (moth)

Ophthalmitis is a genus of geometer moth in the Boarmiini tribe.

All species have characteristic color patterns: the ground color is pale fawn, suffused or variegated with greenish brown. The fasciae are blackish and the discal spots likewise, prominent on each wing and usually enclosing an ellipse or a lunula of the ground color. The male antennae are broadly bipectinate (feather-like) to about four fifths, those of the females more narrowly so.

Usage examples of "ophthalmitis".

After a traumatic ophthalmitis of the left and sympathetic inflammation of the right eye in a boy of nine, Schenck observed that a group of cilia of the right upper lid and nearly all the lashes of the upper lid of the left eye, which had been enucleated, turned silvery-white in a short time.
