Oopiri

Oopiri is a 2016 Indian bilingual comedy-drama film directed by Vamsi Paidipally. An official remake of Olivier Nakache & Éric Toledano French comedy-drama film The Intouchables (2011), the film was produced by Prasad V Potluri and Kavin Anne of PVP Cinema in Telugu and Tamil as Thozha (Companion). It features Akkineni Nagarjuna, Karthi, and Tamannaah in the lead roles; Prakash Raj, Ali, Vivek, and Jayasudha play supporting roles.

Oopiri focuses on the lives of Vikramadhitya (Nagarjuna), a quadriplegic billionaire and Seenu (Karthi), his caretaker and an ex-convict. The way they realise the importance of life and relationships over money and disabilities forms the major part of its story. Gopi Sunder composed the film's soundtrack and score. P. S. Vinod was the film's cinematographer. Madhu and Praveen K. L. edited the Telugu and Tamil versions respectively. Principal photography commenced in March 2015 and lasted until February 2016. Majority of the film was shot in and around Chennai, Hyderabad, and in European cities such as Paris and Belgrade.

Produced on a budget of 500600 million, Oopiri and Thozha were released on 25 March 2016 globally; it clashed with Zack Snyder Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Nishikant Kamat Rocky Handsome. Both received critical acclaim for the performances of the principal cast, cinematography, and Paidipally's work in adapting the original. Both were commercially successful, grossing over 1 billion in its full run globally.
