On the Water (novel)

On the Water is a 1998 novel by Dutch author Hans Maarten van den Brink. It recounts an unlikely sporting partnership which is shattered by the advent of World War II. The central roles are those of Anton and David, a rowing crew from opposite sides of Amsterdam society, and Doktor Schneiderhahn, the enigmatic German rowing coach who brings them together.

The novel will be made into a film by Dutch production company Dynamic Entertainment by the same team that adapted Philip Pullman's The Butterfly Tattoo.

On The Water is a monthly American fishing and boating magazine, covering both freshwater and saltwater topics. The majority of its articles are submitted by freelance authors, usually local fishermen and charter-boat captains. On the Water publishes two versions of the magazine, a New England edition and a second dedicated to New York and New Jersey.

On The Water TV is an American fishing and boating TV program created by Chris Megan and Neal Larsson.

With the success of the magazine, On The Water began taping a complementary television show in 2002. Titled "On The Water: Fishing New England," the first season aired in 2004. It has since been renamed "On The Water TV".

The show is filmed and produced by On The Water staff, covering both freshwater and saltwater fishing topics. Although the show features a wide range of fishing and locations, each episode is usually centered on a targeted species or specific location. The show will often feature guests with a certain expertise in the episode's topic, who provide informational tips and offer advice.

On the Water is the third album by synthpop band Future Islands. The album was released on 11 October 2011 on Thrill Jockey records.

The album was recorded in a friend's house in Elizabeth City, North Carolina between March and May 2011. Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner duets on The Great Fire.

The album peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.
