, also known as Nikkō Shōnin is a senior disciple of Nichiren and was the former chief priest of Kuon-ji temple in Mount Minobu, Japan. Nikko Shonin's formal Buddhist name was ''Hawaki-bō Byakuren Ajari Nikkō (伯耆房 白蓮阿闍梨 日興). '' As one of the six senior disciples serving as priest, he then became the distinct founder of a major branch of Nichiren Buddhism mainly emcompassing within the Mount Fuji vicinity.
