What is "newsbeat"

Newsbeat is the flagship news programme on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra. Newsbeat is produced by BBC News but differs from the BBC's other news programmes in its remit to provide news tailored for a specifically younger audience. It is primarily hosted by Chris Smith and Tina Daheley.

The fifteen-minute Newsbeat programme is broadcast at 12:45 and 17:45 during the week on Radio 1 and 1Xtra. Short bulletins are also heard throughout the day on both stations on the half-hour with extra bulletins broadcast at peak times.

Newsbeat was the flagship news broadcast of Net 25 ( DZEC-TV) in the Philippines. It was currently anchored by Arlyn Dela Cruz-Collantes and Onin Miranda, and has the slogan "Ang bagong pulso ng mga balita" ("The new pulse of the news"). A 60-minute newscast, was aired at 6:00 PM Philippine time.

Veteran broadcaster Ka Totoy Talastas joins the duo in providing commentary on the day's current affairs.

The show was last aired on March 21, 2008, to make way for the premiere of i-Balita.

Newsbeat was a Telefís Éireann television current and regional affairs programme presented by Frank Hall and broadcast in Ireland live on weekday evenings from 1964 until 1971.
