Namatius

Saint Namatius ( French: Namace) is a saint in the Roman Catholic church. He was the eighth or ninth bishop of Clermont (then called Arvernis) from 446 to 462, and founded Clermont's first cathedral, bringing the relics of Saints Vitalis and Agricola to it from Bologna. Of this construction project, Gregory of Tours writes:

Namatius (bishop of Orléans)

Namatius (died 587) was the bishop of Orléans at the first and second synods of Mâcon in 581 and 585. He and Bertram of Le Mans were sent as envoys to the Bretons by Guntram, the king of Burgundy, whose capital was Orléans. He died on his return journey.

Namatius (disambiguation)

Namatius was an early bishop of Clermont now recognised as a saint by Roman Catholics.

Namatius may also refer to:

  • Namatius (bishop of Vienne), died 559
  • Namatius (bishop of Orléans), died 587
Namatius (bishop of Vienne)

Namatius (died 558/60) was the rector of Provence under the Merovingians and later bishop of Vienne from c. 552 until his death in office. He is probably identical to the person with the same name recorded among the attendants at the Council of Orange in 529.

Namatius' wife, Euphrasia, became a nun after his death. She was noted for her generosity to the poor.
