Namatara is an Indian village situated in the Kendrapara district of Odisha. It is located on the bank of Kharosrota river, 93 km away from Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha. It is under the Rajkanika block and Aul tehsil. This village is approximately 18 km from Rajkanika. It is a habitat for 3601 people according to the 2011 census of India. This village has higher literacy than the state as it has 78.13% in compared to 72.87% of Odisha. The village Namatara possess a green environment having a good number of trees. There are 7 beautiful temples in the village. It has 4 schools including high school and middle schools. One can find the brotherhood attitude among the people.
Near Rajkanika there is the Kanika Palace of Kanika rajya. Raja Rajendra Narayana Bhanjadeo was the last king of this place. It is also famous for the Bhitarkanika National Park surrounded by Bhitarkanika wildlife sanctuary which is known as the habitat of endangered saltwater crocodile, white crocodile, Indian python, king cobra and many more flora and fauna. This sanctuary is the second largest mangrove ecosystem in India. East to the sanctuary the Gahirmatha Beach and the marine sanctuary is there separating the canopy of mangroves from the Bay of Bengal. So this place is a vicinity to rich diversity.
