Nadeo is a French video game developer, based at Paris in the 15e district. They are the developers of the TrackMania, QuestMania, ShootMania Storm and Virtual Skipper series of video games.
In February 2009, advertisements began appearing occasionally on TrackMania load screens for Nadeo's ShootMania and QuestMania, presumably a first-person shooter and RPG, respectively. There were websites created for both of these games: ShootMania.com and QuestMania.com. Currently, QuestMania.com offers nothing in exception of backgrounds, presenting its game through advertisements shown in TrackMania. On October 5, 2009, the company was acquired by French publisher Ubisoft.
In the end, Nadeo created the Maniaplanet platform, dedicated to its games and the content created by its community for their games in 2012. With this platform, creators can create and share the content they made like game modes, 3D models, items and even complete pack (like Total Conversion in Half-Life) directly from Maniaplanet.
Maniaplanet included a large suite of tools aimed to create content more easily than professional tools. Those tools are for example:
- A track/map editor
- A editor tool (videomaking)
- A dedicated script language to create game modes and in game website/interface)
- A weapon editor
- An item editor
