Mongoose \Mon"goose\, Mongoos \Mon"goos\, n.; pl. Mongooses
(Zo["o]l.) A species of ichneumon ( Herpestes griseus), native of India. Applied also to other allied species, as the African banded mongoose ( Crossarchus fasciatus).
